Nathaniel Joy (1759-1833)

Nathaniel Joy, second son of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Joy, was born Abingdon [sp.?] Vermont 1759; died Glover Vt. July 9 1833; interred West Glover, Vt.

Nathaniel was a soldier in American Revolution.

Nathaniel married Sarah Ward of Marlborough N.H. (whose parents were Reuben and Sarah (Kendall) Ward).

Sara was born 1772; died Feb. 21, 1848; interred Abington Mass.

Nathaniel and Sarah were married Sep. 23 1786.

Nathaniel Joy served in the Revolution as "minute man" in the Massachusetts State troops from Plymouth County. Said to also have been a soldier in the War of 1812. Farmer in Abington, Mass. and Glover, Vt. where the old homestead is still known as "Joy's Place". He had thirteen children of whom George Ward was the twelfth.

Note: Nathaniel's great granddaughter was Princess Salm-Salm.
