and has issue Lineage. - This family was founded in America by Edward Dix, who sailed from Gravesend, England, 16 Jan. 1635, and became, 4 May, 1635, Freeman, and was one of the earliest proprietors of Watertown, Mass., b. 1616; m. Jane Wikkenson (b. 1615), and was father of John Dix, of Watertown, b. 4 Sept. 1640; m. 7 Jan. 1670, Elizabeth Barnard, and d. 7 Nov. 1714, leaving a son, John Dix, of Watertown, b. 6 Mar. 1672; m. 29 Nov. 1697, Martha Laurence, by whom he left issue, John Dix, of Watertown (a Selectman there), b. 18 May, 1702; m. 28 Sept. 1726, Mary Cook, and d. 11 June, 1787, leaving a son, Jonathan Dix, of Watertown, b. 23 Mar. 1745; m. 14 Jan. 1768, Mary Bullard, and left at his decease, John Dix, of Watertown, b. 5 May, 1782; m.
