Letter of Mary Sullivan Cotter wife of William Cotter to her brother Daniel Sullivan at Indianola, Texas.
_____
Meenygorman, Sept. 15, 1859

My ever dear Brother:

I take my pen in hand for to inform you that I received your most affectionate and welcome letter which gave us great pleasure to hear of you and my child being well, as this leaves us at present, thanks be to God.

My most loving brother words cannot, will not express, nothing but my heart alone can tell my gratitude to you for your kindness to my child. May the Lord increase you a hundred fold which shall be my constant prayer day and night.

Dear Brother I felt rejoiced at the respectable mansion you have purchased.

My Dear Child I received the letter you spoke of but I was waiting from time to time until Mrs. Driscoll would be delivered. She is delivered safely of a young son thank God.

We have had the pleasure of having you both sponsors for Mary's son though ye being in America. The priest allowed it. Catherine and her husband are doing very well. She has a fine boy of a son and she won't be forgotten.

My Dear Child I think it too long to delay this letter without answering yours. The reason why I should delay it, it was in the County Kerry that Dannie Sullivan was baptized and I must send a messenger there to know his age. I will write shortly and send an account of his age.

Johnny was at their house not long ago. They were all doing well. John, Michael and Patrick are married. Johanna Courteny got married a few weeks ago to an old widower named Collins. He has about Twenty or Thirty pounds.

Uncle James two children Nanno & Catherine went to America. Not long ago they were with me.

We are glad to hear Uncles John & Denis are doing well and we are surprised at Uncle John for he was well turned.

I hope Dear Brother you will fulfill your promise to me that is to see you again in Ireland. I must conclude with giving you my Blessing & that of God.

Good By Dear Brother. John will write soon.

Mary Sullivan
