Mrs. William Frederick Dix

Mrs. Alice Tennille Dix died Thursday, June 18, after a long illness. Born in New York in 1870, she was the widow of the late William Frederick Dix, Secretary and Vice-President of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York. She is survived by a son, Norman B. Dix of Westhampton Beach, and a daughter, Alison Dix Garguile of Sorrento, Italy, and five granddaughters.

Mr. and Mrs. Dix lived in South Orange, N.J. and built their house on Quiogue in 1909 where they summered until 1946 when Mrs. Dix made Westhampton Beach her permanent home.

She was a member of the Listen-to-me Club of the Oranges, the Orange Lawn and Tennis Club and the Southern Society. She was one of the original active members of the Westhampton Garden Club and had won many awards for her beautiful flower arrangements. She was made an honorary member several years ago.

Mrs. Dix was a[n] amateur artist, showing her paintings here and in New Jersey in various exhibits.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at the McFarland Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Charles W. Hubon officiating. Interment will be at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Newark.
