Son of Thomas Bordley (1704-52) (of Rev. Stephen Jr.) and Ann Miller of Arthur, (of Michael of "Arcadia") his 2nd wife, was born in St. Pauls Parish Kent Co, Md. He married Hannah Bowers of Thomas, Kent Co. (a Quaker in Cecil) in 1768 and had 2 sons, Read law and practiced law: in Annapolis Mayors Court 1753; Provincial Court 1756; Q.A. Co. Court 1757, Kent Co. Court 1759; Cecil Co Court 1760 elected to Lower House, Md. Legislature 1768-70 (see Papenfuse). Clerk of Indictments Cecil Co. Md 1760. Owned 1300 acres in Kent Co. Md plus 1-1/2 lots in Chestertown. He is confused with his uncle, Stephen Bordley Jr. (1709-1776) (of Rev. Stephen Jr) as both used "Jr", both studied law under Hon. Stephen Bordley (1709-64) of Annapolis, both practiced law but Stephen Jr (1709-76) lived and practiced in Kent Co. where he was born, in Q.A. and Balto. Cos. He, also, had descendants (see chart). (A John Wollaston portrait of Stephen Bordley Jr. (1709-1776) is in Gov. Wm. Paca House, Annapolis.)
